Flu Vaccinations

Each year, between September and the following March, we offer eligible patients a flu vaccination.

The below groups are usually eligible for a flu vaccine:

  • those aged 65 years and over

  • those aged 6 months to under 65 years in clinical risk groups

  • pregnant women

  • all children aged 2 or 3 years on 31 August 2023

  • primary school aged children (from Reception to Year 6 - these children are vaccinated at school, unless they are in a clinical risk group, and we do not offer appointments for flu vaccinations should your child miss theirs being given. Please contact your child's school for more information)

  • those in long-stay residential care homes

  • carers in receipt of carer’s allowance, or those who are the main carer of an elderly or disabled person

  • close contacts of immunocompromised individuals

  • frontline workers in a social care setting without an employer led occupational health scheme including those working for a registered residential care or nursing home, registered domiciliary care providers, voluntary managed hospice providers and those that are employed by those who receive direct payments (personal budgets) or Personal Health budgets, such as Personal Assistants

We will be in touch with you, should you fall into one of these categories. We will let you know how our flu clinics will run closer to Flu Season.

We would encourage you to let us know if you are a carer and are not sure if this is recorded on your record. We would encourage you to be vaccinated by us as we will do this in the practice where we have your medical records.

If you are not in one of the above group, you can contact any pharmacy and pay privately to have a flu vaccination.
