Dr Carolyn Paes (f)

Dr Paes (BM BCh [OXON], MA Hons DRCOG, MRCGP) is the Senior Partner. She graduated from Oxford University in 1997 and is the linked GP for a local care home.

Dr Jiri Dolezal (m)

Dr Dolezal (MBBS, MRCP, MRCGP [Merit]) is a GP partner.

Dr Catherine McTernan (f)

Dr McTernan (MBBS MRCGP DCH DRCOG DFSRH PGCGPE) graduated from Newcastle Medical School in 2001. She is a GP partner and the lead for Education and Training, teaching medical students, Year of Care, Prescribing, Veterans and Women's Health.

Dr Dan Beal (m)

Dr Beal (MBChB BSC) graduated with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Neuroscience from Nottingham University in 2004, later achieving a Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery Degree from Sheffield University in 2009. He is a GP Partner and has special interests in ENT and musculoskeletal (MSK) conditions, and is very involved with teaching medical students.

Dr Jane Carman (f)

Dr Antonia Charlton (f)

Dr Charlton (MBBS MCRP MRCGP) graduated from Newcastle University in 2004. She has a special interest in general adult medicine, haematology and elderly medicine.

Dr Kathy Greenough (f)

Dr Greenough (MBBS, MSc, MRCGP) graduated from Newcastle University in 1990 and has worked in the North East since then. She has a special interest in mental health and paediatric medicine.

Nurses

Trudie (f)

Trudie is one of two Practice Nurses, alongside Alex. Trudie is involved with cervical screenings, annual health reviews, asthma checks, depo injections, baby immunisations, travel vaccinations, dopplers, wound care and much more.

Rosie

Rosie is an Advanced Nurse Practitioner. She is the first contact for women's health issues such as HRT management and coil insertions/removals, and is our Lead Diabetic Nurse.

Alex (f)

Alex is one of two Practice Nurses, alongside Trudie. Alex is involved with cervical screenings, annual health reviews, asthma checks, depo injections, baby immunisations, travel vaccinations, dopplers, wound care and much more.

Julie

Julie is an Advanced Nurse Practitioner who primarily deals with minor ailments and triage alongside the GPs.

Healthcare Assistants

Ashley

Ashley is our Senior Healthcare Assistant. She is involved with blood pressure monitoring, blood taking (adults as well as paediatrics over 5), flu vaccinations, annual health reviews, ECGs, B12 injections, and much more.

Sarah

Sarah is our Healthcare Assistant. She is involved with blood taking, weight checks, blood pressure checks, annual health reviews, ECGs, diabetic foot checks and much more.

Practice Management

Mrs Helen Gunn (f)

Helen is the Practice Manager, and a partner, of our surgery. She is responsible for all of the business aspects of the practice, ensuring everything is in place to deliver the best care to patients. This covers all aspects of HR, Finance, Health & Safety, and IT Systems.

Administration

Rachel (f)

Rachel is our Operations Manager, Digital Champion and Climate Change Co-Ordinator. She works alongside the Practice Manager and GPs within the Operations Team to help enable the smooth running of the services that we offer to ensure that we continue to deliver the best possible patient care. She works on projects to implement changes within our practice and the NHS.

Nicola

Nicola is our Practice Adminstrator. She works alongside Rachel and the Practice Manager within the Operations Team and assist the GPs with the monitoring of certain medications, ensuring that essential blood tests are done. She also looks after the Cervical Screening Recall Programme.

Reception

Mandy

Mandy is our Reception Supervisor. Our dedicated reception team is your first point of contact with the surgery. They may ask you some questions regarding your condition to ensure they book you an appointment with the most appropriate clinician or signpost you to the most appropriate service, and we are very grateful for your understanding of this. They also deal with prescription requests and many other things.

Gill

Gill works with Joanna in our Medicines Management team. They work alongside the GPs and Pharmacy Hub team to ensure that requests and queries regarding medications are dealt with as quickly and efficiently as possible. She liaises with the pharmacies and care homes to help make sure you get your medication when you need it. You can support Gill and Joanna by making sure that you order your medication in plenty of time.

Louise

Louise is part of the reception team and will help to advise you on queries you may have about your appointments.

Denisa

Denisa is part of our reception team. She works predominantly alongside Dr Dolezal with our Czech and Slovak-only speaking patients. She works on a Monday and Thursday.

Cheryl (f)

Cheryl is part of our Reception Team.

Secretaries

Angie (f)

Angie is our Senior Secretary. She looks after the booking of postnatal checks, baby checks and baby immunisations, as well as the recall of patients for their annual health reviews.

Jean (f)

Jean is our Medical Secretary. She has been working in the NHS now for over 20 years, and works alongside Angie to ensure referral letters and clinical documents are dealt with in an as timely and efficient manner as possible.

Attached Staff

We offer 250 appointments across our employed team.

Social Prescribers - the Social Prescribers work across the 30 GP surgeries in Newcastle to assist patients with all manner of issues. They can help patients with accessing benefits, help with housing, letters, mobility issues, lifestyle issues and socialising.
